Pat is in his 18th year of policing and currently assigned to the Training Section as a Use of Force Trainer. He was designated as a Crisis Negotiator in 2015 and has numerous successful negotiations to his credit.
As a result of his exceptional commitment, knowledge and skill, he was appointed as the Crisis Negotiator Team Co-ordinator 2018. He still continues to hone his craft through on-going training, research and experience. Pat is regularly involved in Incident Command incidents as the in-house subject matter expert on negotiation and communications.
In 2021, Pat joined Canadian Critical Incident Inc., as a co-instructor. Since that time, he has helped to facilitate and instruct Crisis Communications courses to hundreds of first responders. While working with CCII, Pat identified a significant need in the areas of officer safety and situational awareness for crisis communicators. As a result, he has developed and delivers very successful and highly sought-after training courses in both disciplines.
Pat is certified in Mental Health First Aid and Crisis Intervention and an advocate for mental health awareness due to his struggles with Anxiety, Depression and PTSD. Based on his own real-life experiences, Pat has created a resiliency brief/training session that is raw and emotional. It has been designed to let attendees know that mental health struggles are real and it is okay to ask for help.
Pat’s policing experience also includes being a member of the Emergency Response Team, a Collision Reconstructionist, BEAT Member, Primary Response Unit Member and a Frontline Community Patrol Officer.
Pat is the President of PD Communications and proudly networks with countless professionals within the policing community. His goal is to work with, and utilize his professional colleagues and contacts to ensure consistent messaging and training for first responders.
